چکیده
Soil waterlogging is an environmental limitation that promoted by changes in rainfall patterns and negatively affects plant physiology, growth, development, coffee production, exports Colombia. The objective of this research was to evaluate responses water status, chlorophyll fluorescence parameters for plants under different conditions. evaluations were carried out on six-month-old “Cenicafé 1” variety seedlings suitable establishment the field. subjected periods: 4, 8, 12, 16 days, using a completely randomized block experiment design with 30 replicates. Total dry mass (TDM), total leaf area (TLA), number leaves (TNL) performed, growth indices calculated. potential (Ψpd Ψmd), maximum efficiency photosystem II-FV/Fm, electron transport rate (ETR) also measured. Waterlogging days caused 57% reduction TDM, which significant starting at 4 days. Statistical differences TLA detected after 12 decreases 29%. Ψpd, Ψmd, Fv/Fm, ETR sensitive waterlogging, decreased noticeably 8 results indicated physiological performance cv. significantly affected conditions eight

PHYSIOLOGICAL DOSE-RESPONSE OF COFFEE (Coffea arabica L.) PLANTS TO GLYPHOSATE DEPENDS ON GROWTH STAGE
Glyphosate is the main herbicide used in coffee (Coffea arabica L.) plantations in Brazil. Problems with herbicide drift commonly occur in orchard fields due to non-adequate spraying conditions. A series of experiments was carried out aiming to evaluate physiological dose-response of C. arabica plants submitted to exposure to simulated glyphosate drift in two distinct plant growth stages. Glyph...
متن کاملEquine poisoning by coffee husk (Coffea arabica L.)
BACKGROUND In Brazil, coffee (Coffea arabica) husks are reused in several ways due to their abundance, including as stall bedding. However, field veterinarians have reported that horses become intoxicated after ingesting the coffee husks that are used as bedding. The objective of this study was to evaluate whether coffee husk consumption causes intoxication in horses. RESULTS Six horses fed c...
متن کاملGROWTH, RELATIVE WATER CONTENT, TRANSPIRATION AND PHOTOSYNTHETIC PIGMENT CONTENT IN COFFEE TREES (Coffea arabica L.) GROWING AT DIFFERENT SUNLIGHT REGIMES
The effect of different light regimes (100, 85 and 70 % solar exposition) on coffee plants (Coffea arabica L. var. Caturra) was studied. There was an overall effect of solar exposition levels on growth at different crop growth stages, plant height and stem diameter being the most affected variables with higher values in 85 % solar exposition. Relative water content showed daily variations with ...
متن کاملUse of fluorescence in situ hybridization as a tool for introgression analysis and chromosome identification in coffee (Coffea arabica L.).
Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) was used to study the presence of alien chromatin in interspecific hybrids and one introgressed line (S.288) derived from crosses between the cultivated species Coffea arabica and the diploid relatives C. canephora and C. liberica. In situ hybridization using genomic DNA from C. canephora and C. arabica as probes showed elevated cross hybridization alon...
متن کاملEndophytic bacteria in Coffea arabica L.
Eighty-seven culturable endophytic bacterial isolates in 19 genera were obtained from coffee plants collected in Colombia (n = 67), Hawaii (n = 17), and Mexico (n = 3). Both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria were isolated, with a greater percentage (68%) being Gram negative. Tissues yielding bacterial endophytes included adult plant leaves, various parts of the berry (e.g., crown, pulp, ...
